This surprisingly sassy animal lover is Dawn. When Dawn first came to TWB, she was quiet, shy, and closed off. Each week she became more open and willing to let her new support system in. She gained so much from weekly empowerment sessions and the comradery she found with the other team members. She even discovered a new appreciation for yoga and the inner peace she found through it. What circumstances brought you to where you were before you joined Together We Bake?
Dawn: I wanted to build up my self-esteem.
What inspired you to apply to Together We Bake?
Dawn: I wanted to better my life the right way and to make my mom proud of me.
How has Together We Bake changed your perspective on life?
Dawn: Together We Bake showed me that it’s okay to ask for help and reminded me that I don’t have to do this on my own.
Has someone at Together We Bake (a fellow participant, a volunteer, an instructor, etc) had a particular influence on you?
Dawn: Yes, all of the staff because they don’t judge me, and they listen to me when I need to talk to someone.
How would you describe Together We Bake?
Dawn: It’s a good program, and it will teach you a lot about yourself that you never thought possible.
What do you feel is the most valuable thing Together We Bake does?
Dawn: I think the classes are the most valuable thing that they can do.
What is the most valuable thing you learned at Together We Bake?
Dawn: How to trust more; how to open up to other people.
Do you have any specific memories of experiences at Together We Bake?
Dawn: Working together with the other women and having a lot of fun doing it.
What was the most challenging thing about the program? How did you overcome that challenge?
Dawn: Well, it was opening up to people and letting them in. I overcame that challenge by trusting my heart about other people.
What is something you are proud of that you achieved because of your participation in Together We Bake?
Dawn: Letting people into my life.
What advice do you have for women considering applying to Together We Bake?
Dawn: It’s the best program you can ever do. It’s fun, and it’s a great way to meet new people that want to help you through life. The program provides guidance and direction so you can do the right thing in life. It also reinforces that it’s ok to ask for help when you need it.
